Vanilla Roy Rogers

Vanilla Cherry Coke

I love yummy drinks. I also love simple drinks. Nearly everyone has heard of the super famous Shirley Temple. Not as many people have heard of the less famous cousin in the drink world the Roy Roger. Typically a Roy Roger is made with cola, grenadine, and maraschino cherries. Very simple to put together and honestly the portions really aren’t that important. In general, have a lot more cola than grenadine and cherry juice and only a few cherries unless you’re really into cherries.

I made mine just a little different, because as we know the spice of life is variety. I made the super simple substitution of using vanilla coke instead of regular. Now we have a cherry vanilla cola and I can tell you it was lovely. There are also other ways you could go about making a vanilla Roy Roger and you could use a cherry coke and add vanilla extract or a regular coke and add vanilla extract and juice from the maraschino cherries.

When I was younger I always thought I was the coolest kid on the face of the earth when I got a special drink like a Shirley Temple or a sparkling grape juice. This could easily be served as a mocktail for a party or gathering for children and adults alike. Of course, if you wanted an alcoholic version you could add a shot of dark rum, whiskey or vodka to the mix or even soak the cherries in alcohol overnight.
